Emeshel’s Ebullient Art
Glass Act
Emeshel, an artist and designer of luxury crystal and glass sculptures, launched a perfume line last December in the company’s Miami Design District showroom, expanding her eponymous company’s reach beyond art into fashion. I spoke with the company’s CEO Sandy Marc Kertesz recently about Emeshel’s presence in Miami. “We think Miami is the center of the world,” he said. “We’re a central point between Europe and South America so it’s as if all roads meet here.” Kertesz was enamored with Emeshel’s sculpture the moment he saw it. “Her work is so unique and beautiful that I thought the world should see it,” he explained. “Though she is just 30 years old, she is wise beyond her years.” This statement refers to the fact that the artist researched the history of fragrances before creating her own. “The Egyptians bottled fragrances in glass centuries before Christ was born,” he noted. “At first it was to please the gods, then the Pharoah discovered it could attract women: enough said!” See my comprehensive article about the Design District on the Latitudes web site and a broader interview with the District’s founder, Craig Robins, on my Examiner page.
